Community Spotlight:

Aaron Jock

Another success story, thanks to Career Visions Employment Services at Citizen Advocates.

Like many of us, Aaron Jock joined the workforce after graduating from high school in 1997.  But something was missing—he missed his peers and needed to build on his soft skills to grow his career.

After enrolling in site-based prevocational services through Citizen Advocates Work Center, Aaron started in the Pathways to Employment Program. Through his training, he was able to gain an internship at TwinLeaf, a fast-paced convenience store, restaurant and retail operation located in Hogansburg, N.Y. After a slight delay due to COVID, that internship became an offer of part-time employment at TwinLeaf.

This is a huge success for Aaron—he deserves much of the credit for what he has accomplished. It’s also important to note that his success is the result of a successful partnership between Citizen Advocates and many local businesses who share our vision to help people achieve meaningful employment in the community.

What is Career Visions?
The Career Visions Program at Citizens Advocates, through its offices in Malone, Massena and Saranac Lake, offers multi-faceted employment and pre-employment opportunities to people with disabilities. The program’s mission is to support as many eligible individuals as possible in obtaining and retaining meaningful work in the community. This is accomplished through a person-specific approach, assessing strengths and skills to best match individuals with an employer who will leverage their potential to achieve the highest rate of success.
