Community Spotlight:

Flowers for main street

What better way to brighten everyone’s day, than with fresh flowers.

Each year, Citizen Advocates—in collaboration with the Village of Malone and Chamber of Commerce—places large, self-watering planters along Main Street.

The planters themselves are filled with flowers and greenery from the Hhott House Garden Center in Saranac Lake, which is an affirmative business operated by Citizen Advocates. Planting the flowers are staff from the Day Habilitation Program along with individuals supported through the program.

After having to pause the annual activity in 2020 due to the pandemic, the team was more than eager to get back out and resume the tradition in 2021. More importantly, it is a point of pride for the individuals who not only get to admire the amazing work they do, but to see others enjoy the huge difference it makes for the community.
